The former HR Chief for Lehman Brothers is suing her previous employer for half a million dollars, reports the Wall Street Journal and the Dow Jones Daily Bankruptcy Review. Wendy M. Uvino is accusing the investment bank of failing to pay her the wages and bonuses owed to her after she accepted the position in late 2008.

Uvino had previously held the title of senior vice president at Lehman, a lesser position than HR Chief. However, following the bank's September 2008 bankruptcy, Uvino agreed to a pay cut of more than 300,000. According to the lawsuit, Uvino argues that the only reason she agreed to accept the new job was because the restructuring firm charged with handling Lehman's bankruptcy promised that she would be reviewed for additional bonuses.

Uvino says that the firm had no intention of honoring that promise. The Alvarez & Marsal firm and its managing director, Robert Hershan, are also named in the lawsuit. Uvino is suing for inadequate pay, 21 weeks of severance, and a 50,000 "hold-back" bonus, totaling no less than $500,000.

In a statement given to Dow Jones, Lehman Brothers responded that "We believe that the complaint is completely without merit and will vigorously defend the matter."
